Campaigns

Sending a template to many people, choosing who, and reading the reports.

A campaign sends one approved template to many people. Templates only, because a campaign reaches people who have not written in the last 24 hours, and outside that window a template is the only thing WhatsApp delivers.

Creating a campaign

  1. Open Campaigns and create one with a name and a description.
  2. Set it up: choose the audience, the approved template it sends, the WhatsApp number it goes from (the default number if you leave it), and when — now, or at a time you schedule.
  3. Check the live count of who will receive it, then Start.

Choosing the audience

An audience can mix any of these; anyone who appears twice is sent to once.

  • Tags — contacts carrying any of the tags you pick.
  • A category — every contact in it.
  • People picked one by one from the contact book.
  • A spreadsheet — upload an Excel or CSV file; it is read in your browser. People from a spreadsheet do not have to be in your contact book.

Checked before anything is paid for

When a campaign starts, its audience is frozen and screened:

  • Numbers that cannot be phone numbers are refused.
  • Duplicates are refused.
  • People who have never written to you, or have been quiet for 180 days, are flagged but still sent to — only WhatsApp can say whether a number is reachable.

Starting, stopping, resuming

Reports

The tiles at the top of Campaigns show sent, delivered and failed — all time and this month — and what is running now, with a month-by-month table below. Each campaign records what happened to every person, and a failure is given a reason you can read (not on WhatsApp, blocked, rate-limited…); anything Meta does not explain stays as other rather than being guessed at.

PDF reports are built in your browser: an overview of every campaign, or one campaign with its setup, its totals and every recipient.
