Introduction

What Wago is, and the four steps from signing in to your first answered message.

Wago is a console for the WhatsApp Business API. It connects to your own WhatsApp Business number and gives your team one place to work every conversation: a shared inbox, workflows that answer customers automatically, templates Meta approves, campaigns, a contact book and an API.

Quick start

From nothing to your first automatically answered message takes about ten minutes.

  1. Sign in. Create an account with your email and a password (we mail you a link to confirm the address), or continue with Google. The first time, an organization is created for you on the Free plan — no card, no trial clock.
  2. Connect your number. Open Settings → WhatsApp connection and press Connect with Facebook. Meta's own window lets you pick or create a WhatsApp Business account and number — or keep a number you already use in the WhatsApp Business app. Connecting WhatsApp has every option.
  3. Make a workflow main. Open Workflows, create one with a name and a description, design it, then choose Make this the main workflow. From then on it answers every message. See Workflows.
  4. Send yourself a message. Message the business number from your own phone. It appears in Conversations within a second or two, and the workflow replies.

Finding your way around

The console has an icon bar down the left. Hover an icon to see its name.

A few words used everywhere

  • Organization — your workspace. Its numbers, conversations, contacts and workflows are kept in a database of their own, separate from every other organization.
  • The 24-hour window — WhatsApp lets a business send ordinary messages only within 24 hours of the customer's last message. Outside it, only an approved template is delivered. Wago keeps to this for you; see the window.
  • Template — a message Meta has reviewed and approved. The only thing that reaches a customer who has not written in the last 24 hours. See Templates.
  • Main workflow — the one workflow that answers every incoming message. Each number can also be given its own.
